Alexander McQueen Fall 2009

Transporting his audience to a gas-lit London street in the 19th century, Alexander McQueen showed a traditional, gentlemanly collection alive with craftsmanship and virility. "I wanted men’s wear to be more masculine, " he said.

I absolutely love every single piece from Alexander McQueen's Fall RTW 2009 show. Its very rare to see a man who dresses like a gentleman nowadays and this collection is so that. The leather, the fur, the watch fobs!

My favourite Fall show so far!

The Floor Lamp

I just watched an episode of Californication and once again I have noticed that a specific floor lamp that we sell at my place of work has been popping up in the background of movies and tv shows. I had no idea how popular this specific floor lamp was but this is at least the 5th time I have noticed it. People seem to love this lamp because we do sell a lot at work, but personally I do not think it is that great (especially for over $800). Does anybody agree with me?

The Art of Noise

Many new genres of music have been popping up these days. For example, what most of us would classify as house music might actually be: progressive, minimal, techno, trance, deephouse, tribal…Same for Rock, Alternative and Pop music. Artists these days are fusing all styles- making it hard to categorize music.

So, one cold Sunday night, I decided to fully change my musical playlist and made some interesting discoveries. A band that stuck out was MGMT, a dynamic duo from Brooklyn with something a quite exceptional. If you take one look at this oddball duo, you’d be forgiven for not knowing exactly what to think. They dress in 70s retro garb and paint weird shapes on their faces. But the opening track of their album: Time To Pretend, with it’s images of a hedonistic, idealistic and hippyish escape from the pressures of modern life, tells you exactly where they’re coming from. It is a given that, stoners worldwide will be lighting up whenever MGMT takes the stage.

Their song Electric Feel, with all its techno-swirls, loopy disco-patterns and the vocals become blissed-out, 70s soul harmonies. It’s absolutely brilliant and insanely catchy. Rapper Jim Jones even provided a remix, claiming it to be different and fresh. On a side note, it’s a great song to play on your i-pod when unable to sleep! It takes you to a warm, sunny and sexy place :P

MGMT is also in the top 10 most frequently played artists during the Spring/Summer 2009 Runway Shows: Dior RTW, Roberto Cavalli, Gucci (Men)…
