My Booky Wook by Russell Brand Russell Brand may be Britain's favorite comedian, but he is just as well known for his questionable antics and various addictions as he is for his jokes. In his My Booky Wook, the show-stealing star of Forgetting Sarah Marshall remembers a troubled childhood with an intolerable step-father, a disastrous theatre school career, and an adulthood blurred by his drug problems. So get ready for the year's most scandalously hilarious memoir, but be warned: you may never look at a game of Battleship the same way again.

LEATHER

You mightn't yet be aware of it, but if you decide to experiment with 2009 and 2010 fashion trends you're going to end up wearing a lot of leather. Perhaps not all at the same time (unless that's how you spend your weekend), but there'll be plenty of options and just as many layers. And when it comes to selecting those layers you'd be amiss to overlook high-waisted leather leggings.

Slumdog kids to the catwalk

Fashion's love affair with Slumdog Millionaire continues. John Galliano was first to reference the Oscar-winning film at the Dior couture show in Paris. Then Freida Pinto became the must-have front row guest (Dolce & Gabbana and Chanel). Now, the child stars of Slumdog Millionaire are having their fashion moment! Taking it to the catwalk for Indian Fashion Week. Eight-year-old Rubina twirled her multi-layered gypsy skirt for designers Ashima and Leena Singh and Azharuddin danced to Slumdog's Oscar-winning song Jai Ho. Both were picked from the slums to star in the film.

Natasha Richardson Skiing Accident!

Mont Tremblant, the ski resort where Natasha Richardson has been critically injured, is eastern Canada's premier ski resort and popular with celebrities including Tommy Hilfiger, Michael Douglas and his wife Catherine Zeta Jones.

The medical condition of actress Natasha Richardson ,who fell Monday during a ski lesson at a Quebec resort, was being described Tuesday as anywhere from minor to life-threatening.

Friends of the British actress said she was "brain dead," according to the New York Post.

Early reports from People.com and IrishCentral.com said Richardson,a member of an esteemed British acting dynasty, suffered a serious head injury. Some Hollywood "insider" websites suggest Richardson has swelling of the brain.

At the same time, a spokeswoman for the Mont Tremblant ski resort said Richardson suffered what appeared to be a relatively unspectacular fall.

A spokeswoman for Montreal's Sacré-Coeur hospital confirmed that Richardson had left the facility on Tuesday, but she declined to comment on the extent of her injuries or where she was transferred.

According to online reports, Richardson, 45, was transferred via private jet to New York, with her husband, actor Liam Neeson, by her side.

We should be getting some more info, over the course of the week..

MFW in review

My MFW

Day 1: The models weren’t the only ones to do a quick change last Wednesday evening. In fact I was even changing in a car! After one of the most hectic weeks of my year, I flew down to Montreal back from Toronto last Wednesday, arriving just in time to get a glimpse of the last few shows presented for MFW. Yes Montreal Fashion Week. Don’t you just love saying that? 6:00pm, just a few minutes before the Ralph Leroy show, I was struggling to pull together an outfit. Luckily I had my giant vintage fur coat which of course helped my "taxi rushed" outfit a great deal. So I was late.. in this case I can call it fashionably late.

After finally making my way up to the main event, I was pleasantly surprised. The Marche Bonsecours (this years MFW host) looked completely different. Yet very simple. I loved the atmosphere because unlike most fashion weeks, it was laid back. Sort of a fashionably nonchalant ambiance.

As I entered the room, the hosts had directed me to the standing section, however I somehow managed to snatch a seat in the second row which I then thought was great. Soon enough I realized it wasn’t so great...I couldn’t see any of the model’s shoes! For someone who works in the shoe industry, like me, that was very upsetting. Live and learn.

The runway room was very simple and clean, just how I like it. No distractions. Let the clothes do the talking! In the case of MFW, its somewhat necessary to have a simple interior design for the runway since many designers are presenting in one place. So the concept has to fit for every designer to adapt.

As the lights dimmed, the room slowly died down and and Ralph Leroy’s name appeared in big lit up letters on the backdrop of the white runway. And so the show began.

Unfortunately, the best part of the show was the shoes which as I mentioned were very hard for me to see. As for the clothing, I think the colors were wrong and nothing fit the models quite right. I also thought it was an odd choice of models. They were all different sizes and shapes which created a lack of fluidity. The styling was poorly done since every accessory, whether the chunky wrings or man purses, clashed with the entire collection. Don’t get me wrong, the accessories were very nice. Regardless they just didn’t help enhance, or show off the collection. I will give Mr. Leroy a little credit though. The last part of his collection, much to my surprise, actually did look sharp with a series of men’s suits and long coats perfect for the stylish business mens of Montreal.

One show down, one more to go.

As the crowds stormed out of the room, I was led to a lovely, yet very crowded, cocktail lounge area. It was a medium sized space with a bar on either ends of the room. This is were all the networking, socializing, and “being seen” happens. But best of all free stuff! As a magazine-aholic, I hit the fashion press stand and selected a few issues of the latest fashion mags. I love this atmosphere. Although many seemed to complain about how over crowded it was, I quite enjoyed it. Theres so much happening and everyone is excited. I love it. What I liked most was that for that moment, everyone seemed proud to be a Montrealer. I was.

Next on the schedule was Myco Anna. I must admit I was not familiar with this designer.

This time knowing the lay of the land, I wasn’t going to accept anything other than front row. And thats exactly what I got. So, Kassie ( my MFW companion) and I sat quite contently in our front row seats which we had spotted and eyed up to the last few minutes in the hopes that no one would dispute us.

This collection wasn’t at all of my taste. Grant it, it was definitely out of the ordinary. Lots of colors with a little touch winter fairytale to it. Still,it felt as though I was back in the late 90’s. I have seen this all before (in the 90’s!). The hair and makeup was extravagant yet poorly done. Over all I was not impressed. Definitely not runway material. (The shoes weren’t so bad on the other hand!)

After this show I was done for the night. Absolutely exhausted, I went home feeling exited for the following day. Rudsak!

Day 2: I took a big breath as I entered the Marche Bonsecours Thursday night as I knew I was faced with a bigger challenge this time. Not only did need to get front row again, but I needed front row for a sold out show! Its was definitely going to be an interesting night.

The second I stepped in, I recognized a few old friends with whom I had organized many nightlife oriented events in the past. After realizing that they where part of the official sponsors of MFW, I knew it was fate for me to run into them again. In fact, my friend Josh who represents Hype energy drink in Montreal, and has always sponsored events for me, was one of the main sponsors. So, as I mingled i slowly made it down the chain of whose “list” I should be on. Once this information was finally revealed to me, I jumped in front of the line and was immediately handed two tickets! I handed one over to my friend and met up again with my old friends. We walked in with our heads held high and asked the hostess to direct us to the best seats. Without ever doubting are actual seat numbers, she brought us straight to the front row. Mission accomplished.

Now, this show was much more up to criterion. It set the bar high for any following designer, and was more suitable for the Montreal style. For this fall, Rudsak, known for its leather designs, impressed us with his dark monochrome silhouettes somewhat in theme with the somber economic times we are currently experiencing. With a new trade mark leather-like hood, he definitely had everyones eyes shopping. Additionally, the female models recurrently sported fur accents as well as sheer flowy dresses to contrast the rougher bicker look that was emphasized by ridding/motorcycle style leather boots. I must say those boots were fabulous. The men all paraded large great leather bags and even backpacks. It was more or less of a put together winter grunge look. And that is definitely a look that is very “couru” at the moment. The music also complemented the collection with a modern upbeat soundtrack. The room was kept very dark throughout the show to emphasize the general obscure feeling of the show. Evik Asatoorian can be proud! It was a great way for me to end my Montreal Fashion Week adventures.

I look forward to the future fashion week for Montreal to see how they will improve on this series of events as well as attract more press. Based on the conclusion of this year's MFW, the board has decided to invest more money and efforts on the marketing aspect rather then the designers. This is a great step for Montreal seeing as we need more press to help put Montreal on the map.

Contraception

Happy to move

Im blogging about the experience that has happened to me the day before Halloween 2008. I was at home with my roommate and chilling like usual, when I was typing ... for some reason I went to him and I just started to cross my fingers ... I could on my left hand but my right hand I was not able too. I thought it was weird, well little to my surprise I was having a stroke at 22 years old. Soon after realizing I couldn't cross my fingers my face had dropped went numb, and shortly after my entire right side of my body had went numb. I was rushed to the hospital obviously and stayed their for 1 week. It was a serious stroke ... I had 3 blood vessels in my brain that had exploded, thankfully I was not paralyzed or killed from the experience! All the doctors were surpised them selves for someone of my age to have a stroke but since then I know I won't ever have a stroke again, I know its a one time thing just have that feeling. Im really grateful for all that has happened, even thought it is something I wouldn't want anyone to experience, Im grateful to have had a new experience in my life, I thought that I had felt all the emotions I could have and have felt almost all I could, well this is something that I never had experience in my life. Im happy to be alive and able to move, it makes me appreciate all the little things I can do like type this blog, or speak as much as I do! Im so happy to be alive and you really don't know what you have till its taken away, or their is a possibility it could be taken away, im so lucky. This experience has given me the opportunity's to be more alive and grateful for all the fundamentals of my body! You never know what a day can bring thats for sure, maybe it will be your last, or just the begining of something new, but none the less don't take your life for granted you never know when something bizzare could happen, or something great!

Last weeks show on March 3rd

Last week on March 3rd, I had the opportunity to attend Montreal fashion week. I

enjoyed the three shows and developed a new appreciation and understanding for the world of

fashion. Designers are as follows; Dinh Ba Design-Muse par Chritian-Body Bad By Jude&

J.u.de and two on March 4 Ralph Leroy and Myco Anna. The experience was enlightening

because I was surrounded by the rich and fashionable. The feeling is invigorating, making you

feel like your apart of their world receiving free mascara which I took home. Having wine

alongside these people which was enjoyable. I enjoyed the experience of seeing the designer

work before completion. I saw how the clothing will look before the finish product hit’s the

shelves. Seeing the designers face at the end you could see that they are proud of their work. In

my opinion, the most enjoyable show was the Ralph Leroy show. I’m a bit bias because I have a

preference to male models but in addition I found the clothing very nice, I‘m a big fan of men’s

clothing and I’ve worked in a men’s department store called Simons for 3-4 years. The colored

outfits used for example yellow top with the red tie, and blue shoes really got my attention and

the hats that were worn by the male models are quite stylish considering I have a bit of an

obsession with hats. The top less model had some appeal. There was about two of them. One

wore red pants and the other white pants. The model in white turned a lot of heads including

my own. I know I wasn’t the only one enjoying, a lot of people wear snapping photos. I hope

everyone that saw the show enjoyed it as much as I did!

Montreal Fashion Week.

One of my favourite shows was Ralph Leroy. While I wasn't distracted by the model with the adorable red hair I was admiring the collection. I especially loved the tailored suits and practical coats. I loved how everything fit together. One thing I didn't like though was the LACE long sleeve top a model came out with OUT OF NOWHERE. Very Scary.
Can't wait for next year! :)

beautiful junkies.

After lasts class debate on the concept of our very own anticipated fashion show, i was inspired to somewhat create or introduce the ideas of what some of us in class were explaining. Katias vision of the "beautiful decay" was one i too considered to be a good concept. the idea of the beautiful woman, who is a complete disaster inside, is something i do find intriguing. I find it sort of glamorous, how a woman sometimes so well composed and poised outside, lives in complete debauchery on the inside. On the exterior, a beautiful woman with everything, yet with nothing inside. is this all due to their huge spotlight under the medias eye, or the constant loneliness once it's gone? or can it be the moutains of cash they sit under that gives them priviledge to burn it all on nights of complete insanity, because they just can? its a mystery on it's own, and that is the beauty of it. weither it's the partying lifestyle or the lonely house wife with a few pills or grams of her favorite knockout drug, this is an ode to everything the junkie desires. these are the lifestyles of the rich and famous.

So i have decided to come up with a few examples of the woman junkie, that will maybe clarify the vision and direction. One of my favorites, is Kimber from Nip/Tuck. She continuously struggles with vanity and her own obsessions. here is a little video of an episode, where cocaine addict kimber, binges. The music in the background is also something i find, that goes well and also can be used if the idea falls through for the fashion show.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3IH4_-7qgV0

Amongst the celebrities, i find Lindsay Lohan to also be a good candidate. There is something amusing about her damaged days of alcohol abuse and coke escapades in the bathroom. i very much like her own sense of style and i love how she always seems to draw all kinds of attention to her name.

Muse in the fashion industry, Kate Moss, is another coke binging hero who has been scrutinized for her chaotic behavior off the runway. Yet, both of these women remain popular and remain icons in their industries.

Another icon who evidently had some influence in creating the chic boho look, is Mary-Kate Olsen. with her over sized garments and vintage pieces, she has made village des valeurs seem like the trendiest place to shop. Aside her history of anorexia and drugs, this olsen twin definetly has the ability and eye to muster up all eccentric articles of clothing and accesories together.

Regardless of who makes the list, these women share a common ground, they are beautiful, sexy, raw and rich. somethings we all just envy a little, right?

American Beauty Association (ABA)

I was a model for the ABA today, and so since it is so fresh in my mind I will decide to blog about this. Its a show for all hair gurus to join together and show their latest styles, and ideas. I lose time to time that there is a place in the world for everyone. No one is alone weather it be about hair, or a n ant craze. There is always going to be people who will have the same interests as you, there were so many people at this event that was held at the Palais Des Congres, it was quite amazing to see how many people are into "Hair Fashion."

Put a Swagger in your step...

Today as I was searching stuff on the internet I came across a band called Yelle. I thought it was alright for electropop so I put a bundle of songs on my I pod.
Later I ran my errands around town while listening to my I Pod. The songs started playing and half way through I realized i wasn't just walking a long but strutting to the beat. It was superb I wanted to start dancing on the street!
I'm sure a lot of you know about her already from her songs played on Entourage, the Hills and on a Quebec Telus advertisementin 2008.
Go download a song or 2 I wouldn't listen to it if i we're just hanging out in my apartment but it's great for walking down the street.

Passion

passion makes a person stop eating, sleeping, working, feeling at peace. A lot of people are frightened because , when it appears, it demolishes all the old things it finds in its path.
No one wants their life thrown into chaos. That is why a lot of people keep that threat under control, and are somehow capable of sustaining a house or a structure that is already rotten. They are the engineers of the superseded.
Other people think exactly the opposite: they surrender themselves without a second thought, hoping to find in passion the solutions to all their problems.
they make the other person responsible for their happiness and blame them for their possible unhappiness.
They are either euphoric because something marvelous has happened or depressed because something unexpected has just ruined everything.
Keeping passion at bay or surrendering blindly to it _which of these two attitudes is the least destructive ?
I don't know....

The Neo-80s: Balmain Style

As a former Art History student, I have learned to categorize art: Renaissance, Mannerism, Baroque, Rococo, Neo-Classicism and so on…Each era reminiscent of another, Neo-Classicism for example feels like an upgraded Renaissance. The old is incorporated in the now. There’s always the original, then a rejuvenation.

I’m sure you all remember the 80s: crazy shoulder pads, material girl outfits…Yea, it was definitely interesting/tacky. Well, Balmain’s designer Christophe Decarnin managed to create a colorfully fabulous Neo-80s comeback with his Spring/Summer 2009 RTW Collection. Not only was he able to blend a light dose of trashy with an abundance of glam, mixed into a hell of a lot of sexy rock’n’roll attitude, creating absolute visual satisfaction, but the choice of playing vintage Madonna…”Get into the groove, boy you’ve got to prove, your love to meeee…”, throughout the show enhanced the attraction that much more!

Ripped and acid washed jeans, re-vamped military Michael Jackson / Sgt. Pepper jackets with square shoulders & embroidered with glitz, sexy tutu mini dresses, sequin dresses, beautiful studded pumps, visible work on detail…The quality is vibrantly apparent, as is Decarnin’s talent. “The fact that Decarnin slices and dices eras and skips self-indulgent looks designed to show off his skill rather than enhance feminine beauty may explain the relative lack of critical acclaim for this designer. But that would be wrong, for on current form, he is one of the fashion's top ten talents”. No doubt that all models were saddened when it was time to undress that night…!

canari who?

Walking through any mall, you can see the flow of the upcoming season`s splashes of color, making every store seem magical. anything seems possible, with fluorescent tights and colored jeans, making it easy to develop your own creative style and be unique with accesorizing. i went above and beyond the call of duty of fashion, went nuts to find the newest colors of nail polish. black and white nails, are way cool, yet they have out lived their time on the five finger regime.

so i went on a rampage, bought colors galore! proud of my purchases, i spent a night pampering myself. i decided to open the first bottle, canary yellow. its funky, its fresh, its vibrant, and it was just what i was looking for! but unfortunetly the next day, i felt a little unsure of myself. to my surprise, everyone hated it! "jess it looks like baby puke! ewww why yellow...why this and why that!" i was shocked to hear these things, yet i felt original and i secretly knew that within a few weeks time, i was not going to be the only one with yellow nails! but now that its been a couple of days, people have been growing on it and instead of the original "ewww" ive been hearing, ive been getting "wow i loveeee it!"

so when it comes to being original and making new statements, dont be afraid, and just stick to being confident! its the best way to come out a winner, and to look good while at it ;)

SKINS

I hope some of you have been watching this show!
For those of you who haven't seen it yet.
It's like a British Degrassi with Drugs, Sex and no after school special feeling... so really the only similarity is that they're in high school.
I started watching it during the Christmas break and worked my way through season 1 and 2 ridiculously quickly. I was heart broken when there were no more shows for me to watch. I had gotten so involved.
Their lives are so dramatic and they usually have such great clothes...
About a month ago season 3 started but the characters were entirely different aside from one... I was very skeptical but I watched the first episode anyway and once again I'm hooked.
So start watching! If you're anything like me you'll laugh and cry and make that aww sound from time to time...

Twenty8Twelve

Sienna Miller. You either love her or you hate her. Personally, I absolutely adore her. Her movies, her love affairs and her stunning reinvention of the boho style…one word: HOT. Might as well throw in SEXY while I’m at it :)

For the first time ever, Sienna Miller made her debut at London Fashion Week this past weekend. Sienna and Savannah Miller's Twenty8Twelve Fall 2009 Show had been a highly anticipated event at London Fashion Week. It had a star studded front row with designer pal Matthew Williamson, proudly watching his longtime fans take their turn in the limelight. The clothing was wearable in a London chic way, with plenty of denim, cropped jackets and a rock chick style. There were a few thigh skimming mini dresses in eye-catching colors, but otherwise, the girls relied on a dark color palette and remained true to Sienna's own individual style. From leather jackets to dark hot pants, you can imagine seeing Sienna in any of these catwalk ensembles, either on the streets of London or at a party.

The Twenty8Twelve line was launched in September 2007. It is a sisterly collaboration named after Sienna's birth date, the 28th of December. They already have 2 stores in London and sell worldwide (recently at Holt Renfrew). The bottom line is that they are talented. It's a relief that they won’t need to rely on hype to make it!

Best & Worst dresses at the Oscars!

So i normally never watch the oscars other than just the red carpet event before. Yesterday I actually watched half, It was quite entertaining. The opening act was actually pretty funny with Hugh Jackman and Anne Hathway. What I enjoyed most was looking at their dresses, The ones that stuck in my head were Miley Cyrus, Beyonce and Vanessa Hudgens. Miley's dress was from designer Zuhair Murad and Vanessa's dress was from Marchesa.
Miley was voted one of the worst dressed but i personally thought it was beautiful.

Macaroni Bar

So last night I had my friend's bday party @ Macaroni Bar on St-Laurent. So you can imagine how fun it was trying to find parking, I was getting dizzy go round and round. Just when I was about to give up to Valet, I found a spot right in front, YAY! lol Neways so we were about 24 people having supper the reservations were at 10pm, please don't ask why they made us put the reservations so late with the amount of people we were. So having a few laughs and drinks, we started eating at around 12:00-12:15. Yup thats right you can imagine the place started to fill up and you are trying to eat while people bump into you every 2 minutes!! Next thing you know we are finished eating, trying to pay while they are clearing the tables and well taking them away.
The place was soooo packed I could not move and I am not kidding, I was stuck in the same spot for about 45 minutes. I literally had this guy rubbing his ass on me, I don't know apparently he thought I enjoyed that!!! LOL Anyways I also met some of my other friends there and it took them 45 minutes to get the bottle of Vodka they ordered; that is how bad it was!!! Anyways, coat check, the washrooms and the kitchen are all in the same spot so you can imagine how fun it was getting my coat. Another 45 minutes to do that. The music they were playing was good, but it was way too packed, I was a little disappointed in that. So yea that was my Saturday night!

Rihanna's battered face!

Rihanna's battered face after her alleged fight with boyfriend Chris Brown. This is unbelievable!

Law enforcement sources told TMZ Rihanna's injuries were severe.

They said there were two "huge contusions" which swelled up on both sides of her forehead, along with "a bloody lip and nose,"

One of the law enforcement people said the contusions "look like an MMA fighter or something ... looked like she was growing devil's horns."

Rihanna may have suffered bite wounds on one of her legs and arms, but one source close to the situation said he doubted that is the case.

Chris Brown has been booked on a felony criminal threats charge. If the district attorney files the case, domestic violence charges could be added.

Aliss

Inspired by the recent movie, Confessions of a shopaholic, i have dug deep down inside myself, to reveal to you all, the addiction i have been dealing with. I, Jessica, have tan-erexia. Yes, i am in love with everything fake and bake. The tanning beds, the smell of coconuts, the lotions and potions and the never ending tanning minutes that never seem to expire. And everytime i find myself at the salons counter, booking my next appointment, they have a contest, making me win after glows and all kinds of goodies. So why wouldnt i wanna go back?!

It doesnt help much either when i know all the girls who work there, its like a family gathering every time i come in! But the best thing about it all, is when im in that secluded little room, ready to go and all i have left to do is press that magic little red button, start! and from then on its the best ten to fifteen minutes of my life. im alone, with no one to bother me. cell phones away, mothers not knagging, and the heat puts me straight into the deepest of sleeps. i enjoy my afternoon naps ok! its a therapeutic feeling, and its a luxery yes, but if i seem to find it quite worth it, then why not?! better this than a crack pipe right? i just have to learn how to use in moderation ;)

Maybe this stems down to when i was younger. i was pasty as snow and ghostly as casper, looking a little drab. but with a healthy glow and a little color, i find myself to be happier, looking healthier and being in better spirits. it doesnt take me 30 minutes to get ready in the morning anymore, slapping on pounds of makeup, layering myself like a birthday cake! None of that anymore! And my recent trip to the bank, involved the teller asking me if i went downsouth, because i had such a quote on quote, "gorgeous color". Now who doesnt want to look like they just got back from a fabulous vacay!?

So maybe i do embrace my addiction a little too much, but dont you worry, orange maybe a color of the season, but i will try not looking like a carrott anytime soon!

Interesting marketing strategy

As an even/fashion fanatic, I have various reference sites to which i am very faithful to. One of my weekly references includes BizBash.com. It is a key site for event planners to keep up to date on the most recent event trends, business, markets, ideas...and much more. This week I thought i would share one of the articles that caught my eye. I think that this is a great example a marketing collaboration (between a product and the fashion industry).

Model Behavior
For a fashion-centric marketing campaign, Sony has recruited a small army of "live mannequins" to pose around Manhattan with its new notebook in the days leading up to Fashion Week.

Sony plans to market its pint-size Vaio P Series notebook to the fashion set over the next two weeks by sending laptop-toting models to bars, hotels, and other public spaces around the city. Visitors to Grand Central Terminal caught the first glimpse of the stunt Friday afternoon.

Wearing the styles of six up-and-coming designers—Threeasfour, Elise Overland, and Libertine among them—Sony’s so-called “live mannequins” will infiltrate different venues in demonstrations ranging from the obscure to the mundane. In spaces like Grand Central, choreographer Johnny Byrne had the models posing with the laptops in unusual, synchronized contortions, but in more intimate spots like Lower East Side bars Spitzer's and Libation, the models silently used the computers as Sony’s targeted customers would, checking Facebook or communicating with friends.

Produced and cast by Jack Morton Worldwide, the elaborate P Series launch will eventually find its way to the Bryant Park tents on February 13 and 14. Models will be deployed out front and inside to garner maximum attention. The campaign also features on online element with behind-the-scenes footage of Fashion Week preparations and a YouTube channel to showcase customer testimonials and impressions.

As for the participating designers, Sony’s partnership doesn’t involve sponsorship for runway shows; it merely offers a chance to showcase the designs while appealing to a clientele that might be in the market for a notebook that can fit in a purse. Once the stunt is over, the designers' clothes will be featured in window displays in Sony stores across the country—including its New York flagship, which will host a launch party on February 11.

I have had the opportunity to attend several television shows, and all of them even though they were Canadian were really fun and interesting. This one on the other hand was terrible.

It was already a difficult morning for me, the weeks work was really catching up to me and i was exhausted. I still wanted to attend this little activity because this meant i would see some fashion shows. Half asleep i made my way to TVA for 12:45 the time i was asked to be there, last Thursday (Feb 12th) Sure enough, everyone was running late, so an hour and a half went by and finally we were called in to be seated. I thought this was it no more waiting, from here on i will be watching fashion shows until 5. But NO that's not what happened at all, once everyone was seated. (The 20 seats) :) we again waited for about 30 minutes until the models and camera crew were ready. By this point i couldn't wait to get started.

Finally after all that time of waiting, Chantal Lacroix comes to take her seat in the audience. At this point i thought, why isn't Chantal speaking to us a little about the show, or tell us just what we will be doing today, or what they will be presented today... we got NOTHING!

Silence sur le plateaux, YEAH! we are finally going to start. I had no idea what we were going to be watching but i was assuming it would be interesting.

So the 7 models start strutting their stuff.... they did that about 7 times. over and over and over again. Obviously because its going to be on television they have to make sure it was perfect but.. No one was sure what to do ... do we clap when the model reaches the end of the runway.... or do we stay completely still for the whole show...are the models suppose to stop for 3 sec or 5 sec.... oh god!

About an hour later.... i think.. that part of the show was finished. Next thing we here is " alright everyone take a 15 min break" i was thinking to myself .. ARE YOU SERIOUS! man these people are paid.. to do nothing. you would think that they would want to do 2-3 different fashion shows.

Anyways so its 3:45 and everyone takes a break... we all thought that perhaps we could go eat something or that we were going to get some snacks. But of course not! we weren't allowed to step out more then 20 feet from the room, and there were no snacks!

So finally at 4 everyone gets back into the room to see the next fashion show. 4:10, 4:20, 4:30, 4:40, 4:45. Nothing was happening..... no one told us anything.. we were all just sitting there looking like idiots. Even the owners of LaBaie were sitting there, questioning what they were doing there.

This was ridiculous.. and that's when i decided to leave..

If they don't do a good editing job on this show it will be terrible. Real Canadian Crap.. like a friend of mine would say. :)

Govenor's Ball-Feng Me, Shui Me

I was surfing the web and then went on Elle.com and came across this article. I thought it was interesting and the picture caught my eye so I wanted to share it with you. Each year Sequoia Productions organizes the Academy Awards Govenor's Ball and with the economic crisis: "It's all about understated Elegance". So they are going with a concept of the 5 Feng Shui Elements which are: wood, fire, earth, metal and water and in addition air. The Asian philosophy brings a calming ambience and is down to earth! Through difficult times using this concept in your own home is conforting and this will allow you to be centered and relaxed.
Earth: Add living elements in your home like plants, exotic centerpieces this allows you to breathe!
Fire: Adding a sense of warmth; light up the candles!
Water: Soothing and calming so add a small fountain or floating candles are great as well!
Wood: Adding natural wood by frames, banisters, etc.
Air: Space is a decor, so rid yourself of all the junk/clothes you do not need; whether it's in your closet or anything hanging around. Then she mentions ( I liked this quote) "it doesn't say on your gravestone THE ONE WHO HAS THE MOST STUFF WINS!" Meaning items are not as dear to us as our loved ones!!
And finally Metal: With a sense of celebration nothing says it better than a sparkle!
Have a good one!

sushi :S

I wonder sometimes if i eat sushi because eveyone else says it's good ... I never crave for it when i'm hungry , i guess i just have it because it looks good . I want to like it , i tried many times to, i really did but never ended up liking it .
Yesterday, i went to this fancy restaurant to have sushi with my friends, came back home and through up everything i ate. So i was wondering , why should i eat something that i hate and find disgusting , and why should i pay $40 for a meal in a restaurant if i'll leave hungry and go right after it to MC Donals.
That was the last try .

Recession a la Haute Couture

Armani Prive Chanel Jean Paul Gaultier

Haute Couture week in Paris played an interesting reflection of the recession. Indeed, designers tried to demonstrate that it was not going to slow them down. There were some cut backs as expected. The event was shortened to 3 days instead of 4 and showcased 20 designers instead of 23. Every designer had different thoughts and ways of seeing and dealing with this still fresh obstacle.
Giorgio Armani who laid on an exotic show inspired by Shanghai and the roaring 1920s, featuring silk shawls and models with cropped black hair declared that the role of haute couture is to "make people dream", also mentioning at the cocktail after his show: "it is not about the crisis, it is about a forgotten world."

Karl Lagerfeld, by contrast, decided to embrace the downturn. Mr. Lagerfeld chose the more intimate setting of Cambon-Capucines Pavilion for his event instead of Paris's Grand Palais. Guests sat at round tables surrounded by columns festooned with paper flowers. Mr. Lagerfeld said he cut the VIP section to create "equality in an unfair world."

His minimalist clothes for Chanel were inspired by white paper, and embodied what he terms "New Modesty." After the show, he implored everybody to "stop crying" over the slowdown.

Jean Paul Gaultier "doesn't want to talk about the recession at all" warned his chief exec. Veronique Gaultier.

As long as the very rich don't fall short of money, i think the haute couture will continue to be an ongoing success as long as it is handled smartly, as was this most recent one.

Inspiring Quotes

Just a couple of quotes I really enjoy...

"Looking backward is the only way to create the future."

"Art produces ugly things that frequently become beautiful with time. Fashion on the other hand produces beautiful things which always become ugly with time"

Sex and the City

New Line Cinema spokesperson Candice McDonough has confirmed that Sex and the City actress Sarah Jessica Parker, her three co-stars and writer/director Michael Patrick King have signed for another Sex And The City movie, promising...more sex-

The new movie will reunite Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon.

The first Sex and the City movie opened last May, four years after the finale of the HBO TV series, focusing on 'Carrie Bradshaw' and 'Mr. Big', played by actor Chris Noth.

The film earned $152 million in North America and $260 million international.

According to EW's source:

"It's going to be more comedic, and shorter, than the first," says the insider.

Sex and the City 2 would have a 2010 summer release date if they can get approval of everything involved in the filming pretty soon. The idea to make it a 2010 film gives them a lot of time to still work on it, and as the franchise is still a really hot commodity, it is almost guaranteed to make enough to be worth the production costs The ladies are back!

Fafi

About a year ago, I picked up a copy of the french fashion magazine Jalouse and discovered Fafi. The absolute queen of graffiti. Born and raised in Toulouse France, Fafi's strong presence in the graffiti & fine arts scene was 1st witnessed on her hometown walls around 1994. Her images of sexy and liberated girls are now quite disguishable. On walls, in paintings and drawings, her girls: the Fafinettes, can be funny, sexy, aggressive, confronting and suggestive to the viewer. She drew enormous attention and thus started travelling the world with her brushes and paint cans. Her art is found on murals all over the world: the US, Japan, Germany, Belgium, Tunsia, Spain, Portugal, Canada, and Hong Kong.

Soon enough, she would have numerous expositions and collaborations with: Colette, Adidas, LeSportSac, Coca-Cola, M.A.C & countless press stories in magazines like, Vogue, Elle, The Face...

The animation world then grew quite interested in her vision: a creation of a Mark Ronson video ft. a Fafi-ed Lily Allen appeared. Her multi-faceted work can be found in books: GIRLS ROCK (2003) and LOVE AND FAFINESS (2006), both being also succesful prints in museum libraries and selected shops. In 2007, Fafi entered a new phase. Having become a mother and moving to Paris made her introduce a new depth to her creations: Now not only the Fafinettes fly girls, they also run a whole universe of creatures, homes and vehicles :P

A Healthy Body Image

There is so much pressure in today’s society and body image is one major one.
Whether reading a magazine, watching television or surfing the internet somehow
The weight factor seems to crawl itself in. I was watching TV the other night and
They were speaking about celebrity stars embracing their curves and aiming for healthier body images. I was so glad to hear that especially since most of Hollywood stars are SUPER skinny that they will soon disappear! I really hope more people follow through to achieve a healthy image! So many adolescents look up these stars and imitate they style and look I know for a fact because my adolescent cousin was struggling with her weight a made a comment on Hollywood stars being too thin!! Well, I got on her case and well we all worked at getting her back on track! At one point last year every magazine I would look at/read there were pictures of celebrities looking so thin they looked sick!! The headlines read “Anorexic celebrities” or “Shockingly Thin” so they are trying to highlight the fact that they are too thin which is O.K. Now, I think it was Monday, Jessica Simpson was part of the main headlines but the best part is they were highlighting her weight gain and they are assuming is about 10-15lbs. Personally I think the clothes she was wearing made it appear worse than it actually was but who cares about that, she looks healthier and happier isn’t that what we are supposed to aim for? So at this point I am confused when they are TOO THIN it’s an issue and when they GAIN a little it’s an issue; so what weight is a good weight?
What I think they are trying to point out is that if you don’t have an anorexia problem go live in Hollywood because they will definitely give you one!

Call centers of Montreal/

I work in a call center, so I've decided to blog about call center. Call centers such as The Internet Yellow Pages, The Online Yellow Pages, Yellow Pages Online, and various other call centers that I have worked at and friends of mine have worked at too. I find it so funny how many call centers are making so much money on stupid clients. Yes, stupid clients, from all over Canada, and the USA of course. I've worked at 3 call centers in the spam of 3 years of living in Montreal, and they all had the words "Yellow Pages", using that to sound legit. They will charge roughly on average I gather 400 dollars, for 1 or maybe a 2 year listing online. These companies are making a killing of money since they have quite a large amount of people selling this shit Monday - Friday. I find it just crazy how many companies are being scammed yet all these call centers and then some are still in business! Well just been thinking crazy and if this Event Planning career doesn't work in my favor maybe I will grab a few buddies and open up a call center, calling it something like "Michael Yellow Page Direct" lol! Seems to me, their is a lot of money to be made selling crap to unexpected companies.

Working in a mall, is temptation at its best. Its a girls kingdom no doubt, but its a deadly sin for my poor little wallet. Unfortunetly, my job is located right in front of Lasenza, a women`s realm for the skimpy, the sexy and the padded. With Valentine`s approaching, of course the boustiers and the frimpiest undies make its way to the front of the store, leaving the single gals like myself woundering ``who the hell am i going to wear that for!``, so i havent even bothered to walk in. But to my despair, i couldnt escape it since a collegue forced me against my will, to help her find the redest and pinkest outfit for V-day. As i walked around, looking at the women frolicking over the satin and laced nighties, i woundered why i was even in this section.

i headed towards the back hoping for an exit or a fire alarm, but of course i was drawn to the tables of cute pyjamas and undergarments. A couple of minutes later, i was walking out with a bag full of stuff and felt very content with my purchases, comfy pjs, socks and some short shorts. As i walked past my colleague, who was still debating between black or pink for at least thirty minutes now, i couldnt help but realise that i had one less thing to even bother myself with. Valentines, no matter how lonely it can make some feel, it isnt about satisfying your significant other. this valentines, i decided to treat myself, because its ALL about satisfying yourself after all, right? ;) So when all else fails, you can sure count on mr.interac for a little a treat.

Jennifer Hudson Super Bowl

For those who don't know...

Making progress in the tragic murders of Jennifer Hudson's family members, William Balfour has been arrested on charges stemming from the October 24th shooting deaths of Jennifers mother, brother and young nephew.

According to breaking reports, Balfour, who is the estranged husband of Hudson's sister, Julia, has been incarcerated at an Illinois correctional facility for violation terms of his parole stemming from a 1999 conviction for attempted murder.

Now that ues been names as the defendant in the Hudson family murders, the 27-year-old has been tranferred to Chicago police custody after being served a warrant for his arrest. After being trabsported to the Wentworth Area, Balfour will now be held until offiial charges are pproved by the Cook County States Attorneys office.

As for Miss Hudson, Vogue editor Andre Leon Talley told US magazine, "She is doing very, very well. Shes very strong. i think that she has such strength. Theres so much strength within her that shes going to be okay. The message that she sent to me is that she appreciates all the messages of love that come from all the fans"

Seeing Jennifer Hudson at the Super Bowl just yesterday was emotional and touching. Hudson had the opportunity to sing the anthem for the Super Bowl as her return. I believe to come and perform the national anthem, at a time that the United States of America is stepping up and moving forward was just the perfect choice for Jennifer Hudson. Her performance was Fab! Welcome Back!

Saturday night, I went to a Fashion Show called Synesthasia, an Asia-inspired charity fashion show. It was an amazing event that mixed Asian fashion with the best of Montreal's nightlife.

The show was organized by students of McGill and Concordia University, and the money raised was going directly to Ashraya Initiative for Children (AIC) , a charity that aims to provide homes for street kids as well as education and health outreach programs in Pune, India.

I really enjoyed the opening of the show. It was organized in a way that opened our eyes to the contemporary world of fashion and design, and our ears to traditional Asian sounds. Following this introduction, the techno music started and our eyes were fixed to beautiful shinny Indian dresses from Toronto designer Dulhan.
The diverse ethnic backgrounds of the show’s male and female models exemplified the idea of synaesthesia. The event also looked to both the traditional and modern-day elements of Asian culture; for instance in one scene, aspects of classical Japanese culture were mixed with the futuristic, gothic trends of Tokyo’s Harajuku fashion district.
Martial arts and dance crews were also part of the event and they were very enjoyable as most people were not expecting this aspect of the show. Even though it was supposed to be a fashion show, having these performances made the event more theatrical, and they really showed the essence of Asian culture.

After the event, the catwalk became a dance floor, with music provided by Tokyo Nightclub regulars DJ DeLeon, DJ Jemz, DJ Yao, and an up-and-coming group, MTLiens. The after party was great and continued until the later hours of the night. Everyone made their way to the dance floor including the audience, models, and dancer overall concluding to a fun and memorable night.
